A Message from Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr.
We all share the responsibility of protecting our environment. One of the easiest ways you can help is to participate in our Essex County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Days and Essex County Computer & Electronics Recycling Days. Organized by the Essex County Utilities Authority, these semi-annual events enable us to remove lead and other dangerous substances from our solid waste stream and dispose of them in a responsible and environmentally safe manner. This prevents hazardous materials from seeping into our water supply and reduces air pollution.
Every spring and fall, thousands of Essex County residents, representing each of our 22 municipalities, participate in our collection days. Since the ECUA began this program in 1998, we have collected hundreds of tons of materials, showing that the steps we take locally can make a tremendous difference.
Thank you for visiting the Essex County Utilities Authority web site and I hope you find the information helpful. We look forward to your continued participation as a member of our “Greener Essex County Team.” Working together we will continue Putting Essex County First.
